Imagine you’re a politician. 

Your entire existence revolves around winning elections, and doing so requires supporting sound policies that don’t make you seem like a deranged lunatic. With that in mind, would you ever support letting child sex traffickers off easy for their crimes? Doing so would be career suicide, no? We’re about to find out.

California Democrats are blocking a bill that would make purchasing 16- and 17-year-old children for sex a felony, preferring instead to give prosecutors the freedom to let America’s most perverted criminals escape proper punishment for their barbarism. 

If not child sex trafficking, is there anything these people do think should be a felony? Whacking an elderly woman over the head with a baseball bat? Kidnapping her cat and setting it on fire? Then reaching into her purse, stealing her banking information, and liquidating her assets to fund a meth lab in your basement? Should punishments for those acts be “left up to prosecutors” too?
