Remember Jack Smith? 

During the Biden administration, Smith led two criminal investigations into Trump that went absolutely nowhere and were eventually dropped: one focused on Trump’s handling of classified documents, and the other on whether Trump’s actions on Jan. 6 were aimed at overturning the 2020 election. 

Smith is now under investigation by the Office of Special Counsel for allegedly violating the Hatch Act, which prohibits government employees from engaging in political activity while serving in office. The OSC launched its probe after Sen. Tom Cotton wrote a letter blasting Smith’s politicized lawfare. 

“Jack Smith’s legal actions were nothing more than a tool for the Biden and Harris campaigns. This isn’t just unethical, it is very likely illegal campaign activity from a public office,” Sen. Tom Cotton wrote. “Many of Smith’s legal actions seem to have no rationale except for an attempt to affect the 2024 election results – actions that would violate federal law.
