Police Detain, Identify, and Charge New York Shooting Suspect
Pennsylvania police arrested UnitedHealth CEO Brian Thompson’s suspected killer on Monday, locating their target after receiving a tip from a local McDonald’s worker.
The man, 26-year-old Luigi Mangione, was eating and using his laptop in the back of the Altoona, PA, McDonald’s when police approached and asked if he had been to New York recently. Mangione reportedly “became quiet and started to shake," presented the officers with a fake ID, and eventually allowed them to detain him without a dispute.
Authorities say the arrestee had multiple fraudulent IDs, a passport, a gun, ammunition, and a handwritten manifesto with him in the McDonald’s. Authorities do not know if he had plans for future crimes.
