ABC News to Pay Trump $16 Million for Defamation
ABC News reached a defamation suit settlement with Donald Trump on Saturday, agreeing to cough up $16 million as punishment for repeatedly claiming a court found the president-elect “liable for rape.”
According to the settlement, ABC will pay $15 million as a charitable contribution to a "Presidential foundation and museum to be established by or for Plaintiff, as Presidents of the United States of America have established in the past” and an additional $1 million to cover Trump’s attorney fees.
The defamation occurred in March when ABC host George Stephanopoulos pressed Nancy Mace on how she could support a candidate whom a court had found “liable for rape.” "You've endorsed Donald Trump for president. Judges and two separate juries have found him liable for rape and for defaming the victim of that rape," Stephanopoulos said.
His assertion was not true. Fake news.
