Josh Hawley admonished the House’s proposed spending bill on Wednesday, saying the bloated bill’s passage would be “hugely harmful” to Donald Trump’s second-term agenda.

“They don’t want us to read and find what they jammed into this thing. That’s why they’re now trying to rush a vote tonight,” Hawley said during an interview. “Democrats have been doing this for decades, but the fact that Republicans are doing it is just disgusting.” 

Congressional leadership is denying its members adequate time to comb through the gargantuan 1,574-page proposal, which exists in spite of the incoming administration's stated goal of cutting inefficient government spending. Outraged reporters and lawmakers have been exposing ludicrous provisions, like the changing of the term “Offender” to “Justice-Involved Individual,” since the bill’s release. 

Hawley and Trump are on the same page. On Wednesday, the president-elect reportedly said he’s “totally against” the proposal.
