The manhunt for United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson’s murderer continued throughout the weekend, leading to a series of discoveries that caused police to feel they were moving toward making an arrest.

“The net is tightening,” Mayor Eric Adams said Saturday when speaking about how close authorities are to locating and apprehending the shooter.

Recent progress includes the release of new photos of the suspect shortly after the murder and the discovery of his backpack, which will be tested for DNA. Police have also traveled to Georgia to search for clues after learning that the shooter originally arrived in New York on a bus from Atlanta.

Adams denied to disclose whether investigators have learned the killer’s name, saying he does not want to “tip the person” or “give him an upper hand.” “[We want to] let him continue to believe he can hide behind the mask. We revealed his face. We’re going to reveal who he is and we’re going to bring him to justice.”
