Mexican law enforcement killed their country’s most powerful terrorist cartel leader on Sunday. His surviving drug lords are reacting poorly.

Cartel gunmen began executing terror attacks in various states across Mexico shortly after Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera Cervantes’s death, bringing several cities to a standstill in the wake of losing their leader. The chaos began yesterday morning when gunmen implemented blockades in regions controlled by the Cartel Jalisco New Generation, which the U.S. government considers a terrorist organization. They also carjacked vehicles, deployed road spikes, and set fire to numerous buildings.

“El Mencho” died during a targeted enforcement raid that eliminated four cartel fighters. His organization is known for trafficking enormous quantities of fentanyl and other drugs to the United States. America provided intelligence for Sunday’s operation, the White House said.
