The drama behind Tulsi Gabbard’s DNI nomination is a perfect example of what’s wrong with Washington. Many of the swamp’s most embedded creatures loathe Gabbard because of her views on Edward Snowden. There’s a real chance the Senate rejects her as a result.

You know Showden’s story. Once an inconspicuous NSA contractor, he rose to international fame after blowing the whistle on the government’s domestic spying campaigns, revealing the unsettling truth that Americans have no privacy. He is obviously a hero, and the Deep State’s hatred of him makes that fact even more clear. 

There’s nothing radical or dangerous about supporting Snowden’s cause. Sacrificing his personal freedom in the name of defending the liberty of others makes him one of this century’s greatest Americans. Tulsi Gabbard understands that, and it’s mind-numbing that that’s the reason she may not make it to the Trump cabinet.

Gabbard published an op-ed on Sunday detailing why she’s the right person to lead the Office of National Intelligence and why she won’t cave to Washington’s pressure and call Snowden a traitor.
