If the pope denounces you, there’s a good chance you’ve done something wrong. The media just learned the hard way.

Last week, the Vicar of Christ chimed in on the West’s fake news epidemic, blaming the press’s toxic disinformation campaigns as the root cause of 2024’s Trump assassination attempts. 

The fake news "generates false images of reality, a climate of suspicion that foments hate, undermines people’s sense of security, and compromises civil coexistence and the stability of entire nations,” Pope Francis said during his annual "State of the World" address. “Tragic examples of this are the attacks on the chairman of the government of the Slovak Republic and the president-elect of the United States of America."

The media’s insistence that Donald Trump is a threat to American society as we know it played a major role in whipping up the sentiments that inspired the attempts on his life. Now that the pope has spoken, will “devout Catholic” Joe Biden also condemn the propaganda press? We’re not holding our breath.
