Thomas Massie is one of Congress’s only true America First lawmakers. He’s hated for it.

Could that be why he’s no longer welcome on the House Rules Committee?

The body’s Republicans voted to replace Massie with a more obedient stand-in on Tuesday, punishing Kentucky’s self-described “most conservative Congressman” for refusing to comply with Washington’s lust for funding vanity project foreign wars. 

Massie tweeted that his removal was not direct retribution for his opposition to Mike Johnson’s speakership, and that may be true. But it’s hard to imagine his ouster would have happened if he were willing to bend the knee to Johnson and the establishment GOP’s bloodthirsty agenda. There’s no greater sin in elitist political circles. Just ask Donald Trump.
