Donald Trump Kills Racist Government Hiring Mandate
62 years ago, the Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. overlooked the National Mall and declared his dream that one day, the United States would finally be rid of racism.
Our country took a step in that direction yesterday. By rescinding Lyndon Johnson’s 1965 government affirmative action mandate, Donald Trump ensured that federal hiring decisions will now be merit-based, not determined by the candidates’ skin pigmentation.
Common-sense initiatives like these are what put this president in the White House. From the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania to the curvaceous slopes of California, Americans do not want their skin color to define them. It shouldn’t define anybody.
Free at last. Free at last. Thank God almighty, the government is free of affirmative action at last.
