Minnesota’s combination of untold numbers of illegal aliens, teams of masked immigration officers, mobs of hair-on-fire protestors, and the state government refusing to cooperate with federal authorities was always a recipe for disaster. Donald Trump wants to help lower the temperature.

The president on Monday reportedly told Tim Walz that he’s open to reducing the number of immigration agents in Minneapolis, hoping the move could help create a "path to restoring law and order.” In exchange, the White House wants local officials to turn over incarcerated illegal immigrants and assist the feds in arresting undocumented fugitives. 

Trump outlined his highly reasonable demands on Truth Social on Sunday, describing the requests as “rooted in COMMON SENSE” and predicting they will “provide the best possible circumstances to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

The president also wrote that Democrats ignoring his plea would “stoke the flames of Division, Riots, and Violence.” Even those who long for open borders should acknowledge that Trump is correct. Both parties bear responsibility for America’s illegal immigration calamity, and both must work to ensure no violence arises from it again.
