When American colonists deemed someone an enemy of patriotism, they often punished them by tarring and feathering. The practice involved stripping the victim, pouring hot tar over their body, and covering it with feathers before parading them through the streets. If you’re not familiar, here’s a dramatization of the act. It’s pretty rough.

According to Mike Johnson, it’s time for Gavin Newsom to face the same fate as the man in the video. 

"I'm not going to give you legal analysis on whether Gavin Newsom should be arrested," the House Speaker said on Tuesday. "But he ought to be tarred and feathered, I'll say that. He's standing in the way of the administration [from] carrying out federal law. He is applauding the bad guys and standing in the way of the good guys. He is a participant, an accomplice." 

Johnson’s comment came as Newsom continues to scoff at the White House for trying to get LA’s anti-ICE riots under control. In case you missed it, he just sued the president for sending the National Guard to his state.
