Robert Kennedy’s proposal to ban consumers from using food stamp money to buy sugary drinks and other unhealthy treats could go a long way in the fight to make America healthy again. 

As free citizens, of course Americans have the right to use their own money to chow down on as much junk food as they want. But deploying taxpayer dollars to fund those habits? That’s a different story. The government should not fund the erosion of its people’s health. 

The soda industry is unsurprisingly irate about this idea. Food stamp users loading up on their products makes them rich, and they want the cash to keep flowing regardless of the health consequences. Last week, X user Nick Sortor exposed Big Soda’s propaganda efforts to stop the new policy, revealing its offer to pay influencers thousands of dollars to spew its talking points and help keep America fat.
