Elon Musk revealed the most shocking thing his DOGE team has found during its ongoing cost-cutting efforts on Thursday, saying he unearthed a government payment for a billion-dollar survey that could have been done for ten grand.

“The sheer amount of waste and fraud in the government, it is astonishing. It’s mind-blowing,” Musk told Bret Baier. “For example,” he added, “like the simple survey that was literally [a] 10-questions survey. You could do it with SurveyMonkey, [which] would cost about $10,000. The government was being charged almost a billion dollars for that.”

Some government waste examples like the use of funds on foreign diversity training programs and transgender animal testing are so absurd that you can’t help but laugh, but it’s important to remember that they represent Washington’s intense disdain for the American taxpayer. No government that respects its people would light their money on fire like that.

Musk also reported that his goal “is to reduce the waste and fraud by $4 billion a day, every day, seven days a week.” So far, he says DOGE is succeeding.
