There isn’t much ordinary about Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron’s marriage.

25-year age gap? Check. Surprisingly real chance that both partners are men? Check. Possible domestic violence? As of yesterday, check.

Cameras caught the French first couple in the middle of a one-sided physical altercation on Monday, showing Brigitte smacking and shoving Emmanuel while waiting to disembark their plane in Vietnam. The footage shows the 72-year-old former school teacher manhandling her husband’s face, with one hand covering his mouth and part of his nose and the other smothering his jaw. She then refused to hold his hand as the pair descended from the aircraft. 

Emmanuel looked like he’d seen a ghost upon realizing the public witnessed the brawl. That type of dirty play was meant to remain behind closed doors. We can’t imagine what goes down when they’re actually alone.
