Fired FEMA Worker Says Anti-Republican Discrimination Is Common
Marn’i Washington, the former FEMA supervisor fired for directing her team to avoid disaster-zone homes with Trump signs, said Monday that her orders were entirely standard and in accordance with the agency’s policies.
“FEMA preaches avoidance first, and then de-escalation. This is not isolated. This is a colossal event of avoidance,” Washington said during a podcast appearance. “[And] not just in the state of Florida. You will find avoidance in the Carolinas, [too].”
Another FEMA official reportedly quickly supported Washington’s claims, telling a reporter the agency’s practice of skipping Trump-supporting houses — or avoiding “white or conservative-dominated” disaster zones altogether — is an open secret that has been going on for years.
Republican lawmakers have announced plans to investigate the explosive claims.
