Trump No Longer Under Federal Indictment
A U.S. district judge dropped all remaining federal charges against Donald Trump on Monday following Jack Smith's request that his final case against the president-elect be terminated.
The decision concerns the investigation into the January 6th election justice protest at which a Trump supporter was murdered. Smith also filed a motion to drop his appeal in his classified records case against Trump, which a federal judge threw out in July.
Smith had already filed a motion to vacate all deadlines in the Jan. 6 case but had stopped short of dropping the charges altogether. Despite no longer being targeted by federal prosecutors, Trump still faces up to four years as a political prisoner after being found guilty in his New York “hush money” trial.
