Harris Concedes Election
2024 election second-place finisher Kamala Harris conceded the race to Donald Trump on Wednesday, reportedly calling the president-elect to congratulate him on his overwhelming victory before addressing disheartened supporters at her Washington headquarters.
The vice president told the crowd that she was “so proud” of her unsuccessful campaign while reflecting on the intentionality of its “building community and building coalitions.”
Harris performed remarkably poorly on Election Day, earning over ten million fewer votes than the amount purportedly cast for Joe Biden in 2020 and failing to win any of the seven key swing states.
As sitting vice president, Harris will oversee the election’s official certification on January 6, 2025.
