Do you think voters should choose presidential nominees, rather than party overlords anointing them without conducting primaries? If so, Karine Jean-Pierre finds you insulting. 

The former White House press secretary’s new book describes the idea that Democrats should have held a mini 2024 primary after Joe Biden dropped out as “an insult to [Kamala] Harris,” scoffing at the notion that the party should have “[thrown] the convention gates open and let the voters decide.” She also said choosing a candidate other than the then-vice president would have been racist. Because of course she did.

What’s actually disrespectful and insulting is shoving an unpopular candidate down your voters’ throats when they did not choose to nominate her. Liberal leaders spending the entire cycle rambling about “threats to democracy” while simultaneously boxing regular people out of their party’s nomination process will forever be among this century’s most ironic political developments. They claim they love democracy, but really think it’s insulting when Americans want to practice it? It’s just too rich.
