Media Compare Charlie Kirk’s Funeral to Nazi Rally
Charlie Kirk’s memorial service was one of the most unbelievable things we’ve ever seen. It was an inspiring outpouring of grace, and Charlie would have loved it.
What the event definitely was not a Nazi rally. But some members of the global press would have you think otherwise.
“I thought of those Nazi rallies that took out in the United States in the 1930s. There were big gatherings,” author Judith Perrignon said of the ceremony during a French TV appearance. “American white supremacy is completely connected to Hitler’s racial thought. And all this is very related.”
France’s former culture minister, Aurélie Filippetti, chimed in by saying the event inspired her “with disgust and fear. All fascist movements have as a characteristic to victimize themselves and to instrumentalize their so-called heroes who died in combat.”
Former U.S. Ambassador to Finland Charles Adams, meanwhile, compared Kirk’s death to the 1933 Reichstag Fire, which shortly preceded Adolf Hitler’s rise to power. He called with parallel “absolute and obvious.”
You’d think people in France, a country the Nazis occupied during World War II, would be careful not to mindlessly throw around Hitler comparisons. Doing so only makes listeners take stories of actual Nazis less seriously. But no. If only they realized how absurd they sound.
