Brace yourself. The Senate could get a lot spicier.

Jasmine Crockett, one of the most entertaining lawmakers of our lifetimes, filed to run for Texas’s open Senate seat on Monday, positioning herself as Democrats’ likely top choice to oppose John Cornyn. The congresswoman announced her bid in an X video featuring audio of Donald Trump calling her a “very low-IQ person.” She surprisingly did not speak in the clip. 

The liberal intellectual thought leader has been among our favorite political figures for years. Does she have a good agenda? Are her ideas productive? Of course not. But come on. She’s hilarious. Remember when Crockett accused Lee Zeldin of taking donations from Jeffrey Epstein without realizing it was a different Epstein? Or her commencement speech bragging about her “stank”? And what about this video of her calling Greg Abbott “governor hot wheels” at a human rights banquet? We couldn’t make it up if we tried.

From a comedic perspective, Jasmine is the gift that keeps on giving. We can’t wait to see the headlines that come out of her campaign.
