Trump Blows Zelensky’s Cover
Donald Trump dropped the hammer on Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday, taking to Truth Social to correctly call the Ukrainian president “a dictator without elections.”
“A Dictator without Elections, Zelensky better move fast or he is not going to have a Country left,” Trump wrote. “In the meantime, we are successfully negotiating an end to the War with Russia, something all admit only ‘TRUMP,’ and the Trump Administration, can do.”
“I love Ukraine,” he added, “but Zelensky has done a terrible job, his Country is shattered, and MILLIONS have unnecessarily died.”
The president mentioning the carnage caused by this war is refreshing after three years of the Biden administration acting like the slaughter of a generation of Ukrainians was somehow a good thing. It is also worth emphasizing that, like Trump said, it is possible to love a country without supporting its leadership. Disapproving of Zelensky’s attacks on his citizens’ right to vote does not make someone anti-Ukraine or pro-Russia, just like condemning Benjamin Netanyahu’s killing of tens of thousands of civilians does not make you anti-Semitic or pro-Hamas. Public discourse allows for nuance.
